The GMR designation recognizes remodelers, builders who have an active Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) for at least nine years, possess 15 years of remodeling experience, complete an intensive series of industry-specific education and training, provide letters of recommendation, submit proof of licensing and insurance if required by local jurisdiction and adhere to a strict code of ethics. Mike Winsborough is one of only 32 GMR Remodelers that exist nationally of which 7 reside in Texas and Mike Winsborough is the only GMR currently working in the Hill Country. To earn the CGR designation, a remodeler must complete a series of industry-specific education courses, provide letters of recommendation, proof of licensing and insurance, and adhere to a strict Code of Ethics. The CGR designation represents professionalism, experience and a commitment to quality. Currently Mike and John are the only contractors in the Highland Lakes area to have earned this distinguished designation.

3) CGP Designation (Certified Green Professional)

Mike is one of a select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Green Professional (CGP) educational designation, identifying him with the skills and the best strategies for incorporating green building principles into new home and remodeling projects.

4) GMB Designation (Graduate Master Builder)

5) CAPS Designation (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist)

John is one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, identifying him with the skills and knowledge necessary to remodel or modify a home to meet the unique needs of the older population, disabled owners or their visitors. He is currently the only contractor in the Highland Lakes area to have earned this distinguished designation.

Here are just a few of the reasons why you should choose a designated professional builder or remodeler for your next home build or major renovation project.

  • NAHB’s targeted curriculum and accomplished teachers help home builders and remodelers learn new laws, methods, and materials in order to offer the best level of service to their clients.
  • In the home building profession, there are new building codes every three years, in addition to new energy, fire, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes that are constantly being revised and upgraded. Designees learn the codes that apply to the specific states, counties, municipalities, and cities they work in and take them into consideration when building or remodeling your home.
  • A building professional with a designation has taken the time to go in-depth into a specific building area of interest.
  • A professional remodeler or builder can help you cut through the confusion of the hundreds of new products that come on the market each year to make your home better and your life easier. They will know what the newest materials and techniques are, where to get them, and how to use them. Their insights and advice will not only bring you savings and satisfaction today but will help your home’s value far down the road.
  • Buying a new home or making major renovations to your existing one can be a huge investment into a place your family will make memories and grow in for many years. It only makes sense to select a professional with superior training, real-world experience and in-depth knowledge of your area of need
