Park Road 4 Ranch Project
This project, located adjacent to Park Road 4, has been a joy to contribute to. The owners purchased the property as a potential retirement property and have made continuous improvements to the property since acquiring it. The property needs continuous up‐keep, which the owners enjoy performing themselves. So, the first thing needed was a place to store and care for the equipment needed to maintain a small scenic ranch. The existing storage shed was the only building located on the property at the time and was not large enough for their needs. Rather than tear it down, we designed a large garage/barn/carport that would complement the surrounding area as well as seamlessly tie into the existing structure.
After completion of the barn, the owners were so happy with the results that they hired us to design and build a small cottage located on the south side of the property. The cottage is a small, single bedroom home with a full bath, kitchen, utility closet that houses a washer & dryer, a walk‐in closet with adjustable rods & shelves, and a wraparound covered porch that overlooks the scenic Texas Hill Country. Other features of the small custom home include fiber cement siding applied to replicate the “board & batten” appearance that is appropriate for the setting. Energy efficient (Energy Star Certified) Andersen casement windows were used, a radiant reflective standing seam roof was installed and a stone wainscoting using locally available field stone was applied.
